About Dee Barnes
Dee Barnes is a ceramic artist based in Grantham, Lincolnshire, known for her expertise in traditional hand-building techniques such as coiling and slab work. Working primarily with earthenware clay, she enhances her pieces with underglazes, lustres, and oxides, creating one-of-a-kind, functional, and highly decorated ceramics.
Drawing inspiration from diverse sources like 15th-century pottery, Sèvres vases, Staffordshire figurines, and daily life, Dee’s work combines historical influences with imaginative storytelling. Alongside her practice, she is an experienced ceramics tutor, valuing the mutual enrichment of teaching and making.
