Her Words, My Voice is a live reading of quotes taken from Joanna Colenbrander’s biography, A Portrait of Fryn: Biography of F. Tennyson Jesse. The reading will give an insight into Tennyson’s great niece, Fryn Tennyson Jesse, and how her life connects with the life of the artist - Danica Maier. An artist, war correspondent playwright and true crime writer, Fryn was an interesting and dynamic person in her own right; however, her legacy has been permanently housed under that of her distinguished yet distant male relative.

The performance highlights direct connections and similarities between Fryn’s and Danica’s experiences. The reading starts at the beginning of Fryn’s life and takes the listener through to her death, and subsequently Fryn’s husband’s death - who died 50 years to the day before the birth of the Danica’s son.

The reading forms part of a concertina fold-out publication available for sale in shop here at the Hub. It includes further writing about Fryn Tennyson Jesse’s life, about the performance piece, and a fragment of the large banner as seen within the current exhibition Bummock: Tennyson Research Centre.
