ACTIVATE/PARTICIPATE is a journey through a sculptural wonderland created by Michael Shaw, in which viewers can affect his sculptures’ form, colour and appearance. The exhibition includes a series of kinetic sculptures and optically changing artworks given life by viewer interaction and intervention. The centrepiece U-too, a giant inflatable sculpture is made from highly reflective fabric draws visitors’ reflections onto the work. This site-specific sculpture is architecturally bespoke and made to fit our building like a glove. It remains in a constant state of flux as its surfaces constantly change, during its writhing circumnavigation of the Hub’s axis of supporting columns and metal framework.
