Artist in Residence

Charlotte Tupper with Fosse Way Academy

This academic year, artist Charlotte Tupper has delivered regular face-to-face creative sessions with staff and pupils at Fosse Way Primary Academy in North Hykeham.

With a background in textiles and embroidery, Charlotte enjoys a participatory approach to art making, through social exchange and a collaboration of ideas.

An overarching theme of the programme is the climate emergency. Alongside the creative workshops, students learnt about influential activists including Greta Thunberg.

During the residency, a chosen group of year 5 and 6 pupils became Creative Champions for the school, meeting weekly with Charlotte to share ideas and develop skills through art making.

The exhibition will have changing artworks as the students explore new methods and create works responding to the Hub’s changing main gallery exhibitions.

The programme aimed to increase pupils’ confidence and enjoyment of the process of making – without focusing on specific artistic outcomes.

Every child has their work exhibited within the exhibition in this building, amplifying their voice.
