Who knew Art School could be so much fun! Hatch ‘19 was a chance to experiment with materials and movement and embrace the unexpected; hatch new ideas; an opportunity to see the beauty in making mistakes!

In the summer of 2019, our main gallery was brought to life through an interactive ‘live’ exhibition. Hatch ’19 was a summer art school for all; a chance to learn about different creative experiences and skills across a wide range of art forms from craft and design to music and dance.

Our gallery was transformed in to a making space with weekly artists in residence. There was a lively programme of workshops, talks, drop in activities and demonstrations throughout the course of the exhibition.

Our Residencies

Throughout the course of Hatch ‘19 we invited artists or collectives to come and act as artist/s in residence. This saw a wide range of projects and activities taking place and each of the artists completely changed the nature of the space.

Alongside our maker space, our resident dance team, artsNK Dance also had a dance space and held regular drop-in and bookable sessions, as well as giving visitors an opportunity to use the space for self-led movement, dance or stretching activities when the space was free.
