The World is Your Dressing Up Box exhibition explored costume design, fashion design, millinery, jewellery and shoes, transforming the gallery into a space where extravagant opulence is celebrated. Visitors of all ages were encouraged to share their favourite item from their dressing up box with us so that we can include some of that magic in the exhibition. Artists featured included powerhouses in fashion, celebrity costumers, trailblazing graduates in fashion & costume design, jewellers who are creating must have pieces for everyone’s dressing up box, extravagant milliners and footwear designers.

Some celebrity status items in the exhibition included the iconic Union Jack boots worn by Spice Girl Geri Halliwell and a headpiece made by the same hands that crowned Angelina Jolie in Disney’s 2014 movie, ‘Maleficent’. Each piece within the exhibition spoke of a unique and powerful freedom, which celebrates individuality in a world that encourages conformity.
