Hub Dance Team Celebrates Nomination for Inclusion & Diversity Award
Fri 20 Oct 2023
The Hub Dance Team is thrilled to be nominated for the Active Lincolnshire Inclusion & Diversity Award. This award recognises individuals or organisations that have made a significant impact on people from under-represented groups in sports and physical activity.
The Hub Dance Team is committed to creating a safe and inclusive space for everyone to enjoy the art of dance. They offer classes for people of all ages and abilities, including classes for people with disabilities and those with dementia and Parkinson’s. The team also has a dedicated program called Unify, which is designed to provide opportunities for people with disabilities to participate in dance and other creative activities.
The Unify program is one of the first of its kind in Lincolnshire, and it has made a real difference in the lives of many people. The program is led by experienced dance instructors who are passionate about creating an inclusive and supportive environment for all participants.
Here is what one volunteer for the Unify Junior dance class has to say about the program:
“I volunteer with the Unify Junior dance class and have seen first hand the difference that Emma and the dance team have made to the life’s of all of those children and young adults who attend the classes. They are made to feel valued, supported, included in the dance decisions for creating pieces and above all they all encourage each other and join in.”
The Hub Dance Team is honoured to be nominated for the Inclusion & Diversity Award. They are committed to continuing their work to make dance accessible and inclusive for everyone. They recognise that Inclusion and diversity are important aspects in physical activity for a number of reasons. First, they help to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to participate in the activities they enjoy, regardless of their background or abilities. Second, inclusion and diversity can help to promote social cohesion and understanding. When people from different backgrounds come together to participate in sports and physical activity, they have the opportunity to learn about each other and build relationships. Finally, inclusion and diversity can help to make sports and physical activity more enjoyable and rewarding for everyone.
The Hub Dance Team has demonstrated itself to be a great example of a team that is committed to making sports and physical activity more inclusive and diverse. We hope you join us in wishing the Hub Dance team the very best of luck in the Inclusion & Diversity Award award category.
