Botanical Gelli Plate Printing with Lisa Tank

Sun 10 May, 11am–3pm

Hub £50 18yrs+

What will I learn?

Join artist Lisa Tank for an inspiring botanical printmaking workshop exploring the expressive and playful process of Gelli Plate printing. You’ll learn how to produce one-of-a-kind botanical prints using acrylic paint, a Gelli Plate and a range of techniques including mark making, masking and resist, stencils, layering, colour and texture. Natural materials will be used to create organic patterns and delicate imprints, resulting in richly layered and tactile designs. This relaxed, hands on workshop is perfect for creative relaxation.

What will I take away with me?

During the workshop you’ll create a collection of unique botanical prints and transform your favourites into finished pieces, including greeting cards and standalone prints.

Do I need to bring anything with me?

No, just bring yourself. If you have your own apron, you are welcome to bring it.

Is it suitable for beginners?

No previous printmaking experience is needed - just a willingness to experiment and enjoy the process.

About the Artist/Facilitator

Lisa Tank “Making art is my passion. After art college in the mid 80’s studying Ceramics, over the last few years, I have focussed more on painting and drawing and am mostly inspired by the landscape where I do my best to capture what I see and feel, very often in a bold, expressive, and abstract way. I love vibrant colour and texture and work in multiple mediums, but especially acrylic, oils, collage, charcoal, oil and cold wax and watercolour, exploring layers and building depth.

Representing the landscape and working ‘en plein air’ is a favourite thing to do and making big, gestural landscape inspired marks, is often my starting point. Drawing standing up with charcoal taped to a long piece of bamboo, makes me happy and lets my emotional response to my surroundings loose! My workshop sessions aim to be fun and will encourage experimentation.”
