What will I learn?
As part of Evolve Youth Dance Company you will participate in weekly dance classes to develop your technical, creative and performance skills. The company offers a safe and supportive environment for young people of Secondary age to explore their creativity and work as a company to make dance pieces for performance. As a member of Evolve Youth Dance Company you will have additional opportunities to share your work at various events in Lincolnshire and across the East Midlands. Company members are required to commit to a minimum of 3 opportunities per year. These may include:
- Unify Festival
- True Motion
- U.Dance on Screen
- RiverLight Festival
- Choreographic Platforms
Please note, this class runs in term-time only and takes place at the One NK Centre, North Hykeham, Lincoln, LN6 9AX.
The class will include:
- Warm up and mobilisation exercises
- Floor Work
- Centre technique and travelling exercises
- Creative tasks
- Performance prep and rehearsals
- Cool Down
- Reflection
Do I need to bring anything with me?
Please wear comfortable clothing you can move in e.g. leggings/shorts and a t-shirt and bare feet. Bring a bottle of water, this can be refilled at One NK.
Is it suitable for beginners?
This class is aimed at those with enthusiasm for dance and who are ready to commit to regular training and performances. All abilities are welcome.
About the Artist/Facilitator
Abbi Thompson, with over 15 years of teaching dance and fitness and a lifelong passion for dance since age three, is a dedicated community dance artist. She holds a range of dance and fitness qualifications, complemented by a degree in psychology and a decade of experience in care. Abbi has worked as a performer, choreographer, director and producer in a variety of community settings, and is an advocate for lifelong learning.
Access Information - One NK First Floor Studio
There is a large free car park at One NK
When you enter One NK, head to the reception and a staff member will let you through the barriers.
The studio is on the first floor, you can see a picture of the room below. A staff member will show you to the studio.
Lift or stair access is available.
The studio is temperature controlled and well lit.
There are toilet facilities on the ground and first floors. You will have access to two disabled toilets.
You are welcome to take drinks into the studio.
