Nature-Inspired Lino Printing with Hannah Bigley

Tue 5 May, 6:30–8:30pm

Hub £30 18yrs+

What will I learn?

Let nature guide your creativity! In this evening workshop with Hannah Bigley, you will use shapes and textures of seasonal leaves, berries, and fruits to form a duo chromatic sketch. Then, using your design, you will carve your lino block, and ink and print your final piece. You will learn how to use various shape tools to create bold and organic shapes - an introduction to printmaking with a beautiful creation to keep or gift.

What will I take away with me?

You will be able to take home your print work.

Do I need to bring anything with me?

No, just bring yourself. If you have your own apron, you are welcome to bring it but we have some available to borrow.

Is it suitable for beginners?

Yes

About the Artist/Facilitator

Hannah’s current body of work, in both ceramic and print, explores natural landscapes, and the organic shapes and earthy colours within. First inspired from a road trip around California, her work has since moved on to almost ‘dream-like’ scapes direct from the imagination or memories. Growing up in the flats of The Fens, mountains are very much still a novelty and wonder, which continue to inspire. The sun and moon feature heavily in her work, often displayed in the same piece, depicting those still, endless days where both are often visible in the sky.

Hannah completed a BA in Illustration at Cambridge School of Art, followed by a Masters in the same subject at Camberwell College of Art, UAL. Her practise focuses heavily on both printmaking, and ceramics; she appreciates a slow, steady and considered approach to creating, with an element of surprise as often is the case with both.
